Isn’t there something about double jeopardy on the books of most states? Oh yes, there is. More often than not it’s there to protect the Orenthal James Simpsons of the world from being harassed and put through an unnecessarily difficult and tortuous process. Unfortunately, the same safeguards are not available to those going through a divorce proceeding.
Suffice it to say, the Fog of Chancery has safely voyaged across the pond. Similar to the way in which millions of immigrants have made their way to America’s shores over the last 150-plus years, it has arrived and prospered, to the point where it is considered by many to be thriving. Somewhere up in the balcony, Mr. Dickens is having a good laugh.
